Free Algebra tutoring that never gives your child the answer.
Socratic AI tutoring with a live whiteboard, full parent transparency, and published results. Built for students, by students.
Randomized trials show AI-assisted tutoring can meaningfully lift topic mastery (Stanford National Student Support Accelerator, 2024). We're measuring our own results with pre/post testing — and we'll publish them, good or bad.
Three steps to real understanding
1. Take the diagnostic
A 10-minute adaptive quiz maps exactly where you're strong and where you need work — and builds your personal learning path.
2. Learn in live sessions
Book a session, meet your Socratic AI tutor on an interactive whiteboard, and work through problems by voice or text. The tutor asks — you think.
3. Practice & improve
After every session you get five personalized homework problems targeting your exact weak spots, plus a weekly progress report for you and your parents.
Our tutor never hands over the answer.
The number one fear parents have about AI is that it does the homework instead of teaching. So we made it a hard rule, built into the tutor at the deepest level: it will not give the final answer to a problem your child hasn't solved. Not if they ask nicely. Not if they say their teacher allowed it. Not ever.
Instead, it escalates help one step at a time — a reflective question, a pointer to the concept, a targeted hint, a similar worked example — and only after five genuine attempts does it walk through the full solution, immediately followed by a twin problem your child solves on their own. Right answers with shaky steps don't survive tests. Understanding does.
Student: just tell me the answer, i'm in a hurry
Tutor: I hear you — let's get there fast, the real way. You've already isolated the variable term. What's the one operation left to undo?
You see everything.
You've tried tutoring centers and private tutors. Telos gives your child a tutor that never tires, never flakes, and remembers everything — with more transparency than any human tutor could offer.
Consent first
For students under 18, nothing happens until you approve. The consent page explains every data practice in plain English, and you can revoke at any time.
Every transcript, every score
Read full session transcripts within minutes of each session. See homework accuracy, attendance, and mastery progress from your own dashboard.
Weekly reports
Every Sunday: sessions completed, topics covered, homework completion and accuracy, one specific win, and one recommendation for next week.
Real measurement
Pre and post testing with published results. If it isn't working, you'll know — because we'll say so publicly.

Questions parents actually ask.
Is it really free?+
Yes — completely. No paywalls, no premium tier, no ads, no upsells. Telos is a student-led nonprofit project built on free infrastructure, and it will stay free.
Who built this?+
Telos was built by students — Dhiaan and Neal — who believe world-class tutoring shouldn't cost $5,000 a year. An adult math-teacher advisor reviews our curriculum and safety procedures.
Does it do my kid's homework?+
No — and this is the whole point. The tutor never gives the final answer to a problem your child hasn't solved. It guides with questions and hints, exactly like the best human tutors do.
Is the AI safe?+
The tutor only talks about math and study skills. It never asks for personal information, filters inappropriate content, and if a student ever expresses being in crisis, it stops tutoring, shares the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, and alerts our team for review within 24 hours.
What data do you collect?+
Name, email, session transcripts, homework answers, and quiz scores. Nothing else. Voice audio is transcribed live in the browser and never stored. Full details in our Privacy Policy.
What ages is this for?+
Students 13 and older. Students under 18 need a parent's consent before any tutoring begins — we email the consent link during signup.
What devices does it work on?+
Any modern browser, including Chromebooks and school-filtered networks. Voice is optional — every session works fully with typing alone.
What if my child gets stuck?+
There's a literal "I'm Stuck" button. The tutor escalates help one gentle step at a time — from a guiding question up to a full walkthrough only after real attempts — and then gives a twin problem so the concept actually sticks.
Can I watch a session?+
Parents can read the full transcript of every session (available within minutes of it ending), along with whiteboard snapshots, homework results, and attendance — all from the parent dashboard.
How do I delete our data?+
From the parent dashboard, or by emailing hello@telost.org / telostutoring@outlook.com. All personal data is hard-deleted within 30 days of the request.
Why only Algebra I?+
Depth over breadth. We'd rather do one subject to a world-class standard, measure the results, and publish them — then expand to Geometry and SAT Math.
Every child deserves a world-class tutor.
Yours just arrived. And it's free.
